Kendra Shaw cracked open an eye to take in her surroundings because she had momentarily forgotten where she was. When she saw her commanding officer Helena Cain beside her naked as the day she was born and noted her nakedness she remembered. The admiral had been wallowing in her hurt feelings over the betrayal of her former lover Gina Inviere. The older woman didn’t let it show but Kendra knew that the betrayal hurt her deeply, doing anything she could to make her forget. And that was the real shadow on their relationship, which she could not let Gina go.
